Riads are ancient, private residences that once belonged to Sultan princes, aristocrats, and noble families. Nestled in the labyrinths of these medinas, these residences represent and reflect the Moroccan artisan richness and patrimony.
Riad Dar Afram is a traditional Riad located in the heart of the ancient Medina in the beautiful coastal town of Essaouira in Morocco.
The Riad has been totally renovated and decorated but maintains the traditional style of a Moroccan Riad.
Traditionally, the Moroccan Riad has an interior garden, but in our case, we have converted the garden into a lounge area and music room to entertain our guests.
Music is at the heart of the experience in Dar Afram, and we frequently have impromptu performances by local artists, sometimes lasting well into the night.
Alongside the main lounge room is the dining room. Breakfast and dinner are provided to all guests, although the evening meal is entirely optional. We have some of the finest chefs in Essaouira and the food is always a selection of the finest Moroccan delicacies.
We have a broad selection of accommodation in the Riad, including both single and double rooms. Or alternatively, you can rent one of our individual luxury apartments, including cleaners and cooks if desired.
Shower rooms and toilets are available on each floor of the Riad, and on the ground floor we even have our own private Hammam (traditional Moroccan sauna) for relaxation.
On one of our two sunny terraces there is a traditional Moroccan barbecue where you can indulge in rooftop meals as you watch the sunset or gaze into the moon light.
You can enjoy a fantastic 360° view of the sea and see far across the roofs of the Medina.
